My vintage item shows signs of wear, is this normal?
Yes – this is absolutley normal and is a result of the item being pre-loved. Vintage items are things that are 20yrs or more in age.
The type of wear you could expect to see includes – surface wear, suble scratches or tiny chips, discolouration, tarnishing…
If a piece has any major damage, it will be highlighted in the listing description – allowing you to make an informed decision as whether to purchase the item or not.
My item arrived damaged, what should i do?
Items are always packaged with care and appropriate packing materials, however sometimes things are damaged during delivery. Should this happen, please contact me as soon as possible. You will need to provide photos of the packaging as well as the damaged item/s – this information is required to enable me to make a claim with Royal Mail. See Returns Policy for further details.
I will do my best to resolve any issues as soon as possible. Possible resolutions include a refund or replacement.
Materials & Jewellery Care
What materials do you use in your handmade jewellery?
I’m extremly passionate about sustainability and use the following materials in my handcrafted jewellery items:
- 100% eco friendly recycled sterling silver
- Upcycled vintage and modern elements
- Rescued chains and fastenings
- Recycled beads, jump rings, wire etc…
I have a large collection of broken vintage/modern jewellery and try to recycle or upcycle as must as possible, to save anything from ending up in the landfill.
Reclaimed materials often have more charm about them and can add a quirky element to jewellery designs. Please note – I list as many materials as possible, when describing my handcrafted item. However, I don’t always know what some elements are made from.
How do I care for my Jewellery?
Looking after your jewellery helps to ensure its longevity and shiny appearance. I recommend the following care instructions:
- Sterling Silver – Sterling silver will tarnish over time. To prevent tarnish, clean your piece after every use, avoid contact with perfumes and cosmetic products, keep in an air tight plastic pouch. To remove the tarnish simply polish with a silver polishing cloth. Vintage jewellery will often come with tarnish present, adding charm and demonstrating the pieces age.
- Copper – Copper will also develop a tarnish/patina over time. Tarnish can be removed by submerging your piece in a solution of warm water and apple cider vinegar. Please note – some designs have patina added as part of the design.
- Brass – Brass can be cleaned the same way as copper – see above.
- Glass – Glass pendants or beaded jewellery pieces should be stored in a soft fabric pouch. Always store pieces sepereatly to aviod them knocking together, which may cause the glass to chip or crack.
In general it’s advisable to keep all jewellery from coming into contact with perfumes, moisturisers or other skin products. Wipe clean after every use and store appropriately.
What ever you do, please make sure to wear and enjoy your jewellery!!! Let it sparkle, shine and bring you the joy your deserve!
